Welcome

Well, after harbouring an ambition to be a writer for most of my adult life, I guess I finally made it! It’s been a journey of great excitement and tremendous satisfaction – even though I was a bit late setting off! It started, in fact, two days into my retirement at the age of sixty-one-years-and-two-weeks, back in January 2006.

I had a great time writing the three books of the initial Hotel St Kilda trilogy – Catalyst, Heaven’s Door and Lost Souls. Just completing the manuscripts gave me an enormous feeling of achievement and a real sense of purpose in retirement, and I’ve been surprised and gratified by how well they have been received by my readers. Which persuaded me to write number four – The Blue Men – which came out in 2021, and is a sequel to the original trilogy. (I’m now well on with number five!)

My thanks are due to all the people who have provided me with practical help in the form of information and guidance, and for the even greater number who showed such an interest in the books and encouraged me to complete the trilogy, and then asked for more – and more! They have helped me through some challenging times when my enthusiasm and motivation waned through lack of inspiration. I am so very grateful to them all.
